April 1862 Home - Aiken

W. 9 At home at my farm! Thanks to a merciful Providence that has brought us in health & safety to our home again. We left Pooshee on Monday morning - spent the day & night at Morefield with Maria, & at 1/4 before 3 A.M. set off on our journey for RidgeVille. Our party consisted of Mary & myself, the two children & Leah in the Pooshee carriage & Maggie Dawson, Henrietta & Emily & Nanny in Marias carriage, our baggage in the cart. We reached RidgeVille at half past 8 A.M. but the cart being heavily loaded did not come in time. We took the cars at 1/4 before 9. Before leaving I gave directions for our baggage to be brought on by the nights train, & this morning it all came up safely from Aiken. We dined at Mrs Dawsons yesterday & came out in the afternoon
I find the Measles still progressing on my farm. Juno & her three children now have it - All of Peggys family Rosey & Amelia & their children
